On the Second Day of Christmas, BrainStorm Gave to Me: Out of Office Makes Vacation Worry Free!

Christmas break is fast approaching – but before you pack your bags, have you set your Out of Office reply on Outlook? The last thing you want on vacation is people filling up your inbox, trying to get a hold of you and wondering where you are. Lovingly shortened to “OOO”, your Out of Office replies can be sent automatically to anyone who emails you while you’re relaxing on that beach (or enduring holidays with the family). Here’s how!

Selecting File, then Info will show you the Automatic Replies tab. Once you click there, you can click on Only Send During This Time Range. This allows you to select the dates that you’ll be out of the office, and allows you to write a custom message that will be sent to everyone who bugs… or emails you during your absence.

This custom message lets everyone know that you love them, you miss them (maybe), and when they’ll be able to get a hold of you. Want to only send this reply to emails sent to you from your adoring coworkers? Select the tab that says Inside my Organization. Want to send a different message to emails coming to you from addresses outside your organization? Select the tab Outside my Organization, and you’re ready to create your custom “away” message.

Now you’re ready to pack up your swimsuit, check into your flight, and enjoy your holiday break worry free as your inbox handles your fan mail. Happy travels!

Better known around the office as “The Queen of No,” Jourdan can actually be sort of pleasant once you get to know her. When she isn’t distracting the Marketing team with music video ideas, Jourdan is probably stalking the Barefoot Contessa, pretending (poorly) to enjoy exercise, or Netflix binging with her husband and goofball of a dog.
